Thanh Ha Pottery village

Its
source was from Thanh Hoa province and formed in the end of 15th century, after
that it developed vigorously, contemporary with Hoi An port in the centuries
later. Thanh Ha pottery products are made from clay soil by much defined
craftsmen. The products mainly serve daily life of native people in domestic
markets including bowls, jars, pots, shapes of animals, etc. They have multiform
colors and shapes especially they are lighter than the same products in other
places.
Up to now, Thanh Ha pottery village still exists and operates to produce with
traditional means of technique. Therefore, it becomes a live museum and precious
documentation resource of scientists who study about traditional pottery
occupation in particular in Viet Nam and in Southeast Asia in common.
Its
location stands by the Thu Bon riverside, Cam Ha ward - Hoi An town and far
from ancient town 2 kilometers to the West. Visiting here, tourists will collect
souvenirs in pleasure and see the skillful craftsmen make the pottery products
with your own eyes.
Kim Bong Carpenter village
It was formed in 15th century by Vietnamese from the Northern Thanh Hoa -
Nghe An - Ha Tinh province in the first time finding out Cam Kim - Hoi An. In
the last of 16th and early of 17th century, Kim Bong carpentry just only started
to develop due to the thriving of Hoi An port. In 18th century, this occupation
developed vigorously and established the occupation village with three groups:
Ancient architectural construction, civil wooden furniture and shipbuilding.

The place and Kim Bong carpentry occupation have been dealed with in “Phu
Bien Tap Luc” by Le Quy Don in the 18th century.
With the reputation of Kim Bong carpentry, there were many carpenters
organized by King of Nguyen dynasty in order to build Hue capital. Among them
was awarded the nine and eight grades of mandarin positions, chief of wooden
statue position etc., Particularly, Hoi An has a lots of architecture
construction and sculpture products were built by skillful carpenters and still
valuable up to now. Beside that, Kim Bong’s carpenters had ever built the big
trade ships helping to exchange and transport goods everywhere easily.
Its location is in the South of Thu Bon riverside, far from Hoi An ancient
town 1 kilometer along the waterway, it is very convenient for tourists to
collect souvenirs and to pay a visit.
