Being the World Heritage, My Son Sanctuary’s location is in a small valley and all sides are mountain. It’s 1000 metres wide, 1800 metres long and about 70 kilometers Southwest of Danang city, Vietnam

In the fourth century, the Cham king Bhadravarnan came to My Son, a isolated and discreet place to build the cathedral of the Hindu deity of the kingdom Champa place. The first temple was built of wood to worship the god Siva. This deity is shown in the form of a Limga Limga-the first one in Southeast Asia.

Two centuries later, the temple was burned in one severe fire. In the early seventh century, King Sambhuvarman rebuilt the temple with more sustainable materials. And this place has become the cathedral of the kingdom of Champa.

Since then, almost all coming dynasties Cham Kings built new temples or restored ruined ones in My Son. They also spent a lot of gold, silver and jewels, slaves, cattle to pray to God to protect their throne. Each King set here a stone stele to record his merits.

The remaining steles of today have helped us to understand more about the sanctuary.
