1. Guide (s):
Mr. Huong (In Ho Chi Minh City): Helpful, informative, prompt and very
pleasant. Willing to share with us her knowledge of her country. Assisted with
booking in and other services.
Mr. Xuan (In Dalat): Did a good job. Very helpful. The railway was not
working from Dalat Station, so we went by car to the pagoda. If we had stayed 2
days, a visit to one of the lakes would have been a good idea.
Mr. Tue (Centre of Vietnam): An excellent and well informed guide who was
flexible and was very helpful when we both contracted a stomach bug. The sites
he took us to were outstanding and he explained them very well, and answered
many other questions we asked him about various buildings and customs.
Mr. Dinh (North of Vietnam): A very interesting guide who told us a lot about
daily life, trade, joint ventures. He is well read and very up to date with his
facts. Prompt and pleasant. Organised our booking in at the hotel and the
airport.
2. Accommodation:
Majestic Hotel (In Ho Chi Minh City): A superb hotel. Excellent breakfasts
and service. Very comfortable rooms. Very helpful, efficient staff.
Sofitel Dalat Palace Hotel (In Dalat): Another fantastic hotel with wonderful
views and gardens. We could not believe the beauty of the gracious hotel with a
very helpful and friendly staff. A pleasure to stay there. We enjoyed the art
works in the hotel.
Sunrise Hotel (In Nha Trang): An outstanding hotel. We enjoyed the location,
the views and the lovely rooms. The staff were exceptionally charming and
helpful. Good gym and pool. Breakfasts very good.
Victoria Hotel (In Hoi An) A luxury hotel with superb gardens and well
located on the beach. The rooms had a view of the river and were very attractive
and comfortable. Very friendly and hospitable staff: Excellent food.
Saigon Morin Hotel (In Hue): We loved the garden meals area as well as the
pool and gym facilities. The rooms were attractive and very comfortable. Once
again the staff were friendly and professional. Great classical musicians in the
bar upstairs.
Sofitel Plaza Hotel (In Hanoi):Not as attractive and did not have the same
atmosphere as the other hotels, but practical and comfortable. An excellent gym
and pool. Staff in the breakfast room were slow to take away plates and were not
as efficient or as well trained as in all the other hotels’ restaurants. Other
staff were fine.
3. Transport (Land, water and air):
All transport arrangements were very satisfactory. The drivers were excellent
and drove safely. Vietnam Airline was very comfortable
4. Restaurants:
In the South: Excellent
In Dalat: Excellent
In the Centre: Excellent
In the North: Excellent
5. Places you visited:
All went very well. In Hanoi we requested to go to the Museum of Ethnicity
which is often not recommended to tourists. It is an outstanding museum, a
better bet than a war museum.
6. Design and management of your tour:
Excellent. We appreciated you keeping in touch with us during our trip
Everything ran smoothly
7. Are there any recommendations or criticisms of services, restaurants,
shops, visit sites and so on that you’ve visited on your own?
None. The tour was superbly organized and went like clockwork. The people
were exceptionally friendly, the guides and drivers very capable, each knowing
their own area very well. A much better way of traveling, with the personal
touch, compared to the huge tour busses we saw, filled with loud tourists who I
am sure did not get to experience as much as we did, having the flexibility of
our own guide and comfortable vehicle
