Cu Chi Tunnels travel information

Cu Chi tunnels is underground system located in Phu My Hung commune, Cu Chi district, 70 kilometers far from Ho Chi Minh city. Cu Chi tunnels has long been known as a national historical site and a masterpiece of Vietnamese people in time of war.

Being constructed in the struggle against French (1946-1948), Cu Chi tunnel served as a storage place of documents, weapons of Vietnamese army. Especially, it was used by National Liberation Front during Mau Than campaign in 1968.

Cu Chi tunnels are 200 kilometers long with a sophisticated system of tunnels. The tunnel is 3 to 8 meters deep to make the high enough for army soldiers were supposed to crouch when moving in tunnels.

Cu Chi tunnels were built on ground of solid lateritic clay which can resist to landslides. It has 3 layers with the first layer being 3 meters deep from ground, the middle being 6 meters deep and the last layer being 12 meters deep. Each layer was specially designed so that air can go inside. More interestingly, it was a wonderful hiding spot during combat and it could prevent toxic gases of the enemy.

Over course of time, Cu Chi tunnels now remain 120 kilometers long. Many tunnels have been expanded for exploring activities of tourists. What you should know about “Gem’s island” Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is the biggest island in Vietnam, belonging to the groups of island of Gulf of Thailand which is located in Kien Giang (in the West of Vietnam). It is considered as an international centre of travel and trade as well as a famous tourist attraction site.

Its area is 567 km2 (56.700 ha) with the length of 49 km. It totally has 99 hills, and mountains, and a channel in the South whose depth is about 60m.

Thom island: It is in the North of Phu Quoc island. Tourists can come here to visit the area of feeding sea animals, and pearls. You also can experience of diving.

Tranh stream: It is in the North East of Phu Quoc, attracting tourists due to its picturesque beauty.

Some historical sites at Phu Quoc:

Phu Quoc Prison: Considered as the most scary and most worth-seeing site at Phu Quoc, Cay Dua (Phu Quoc) prison was built in the period of Indochina War. Travelling in Tay Ninh: the land of Caodaism

Tay Ninh is located in the South East of Vietnam, connecting Ho Chi Minh city and Phnom Penh – the capital of Campuchia. It is also known as the land of Cao Dai religion with a magnificent and splendid church.

Before being formed, Tay Ninh was called Rondum Ray (elephant’s cage), belonged to Thuy Chan Lap. After Vietnamese exploring this area, Tay Ninh changed and developed.

Travellers can catch a coach to get to Tay Ninh at the weekend because it is only 100km from Ho Chi Minh city. Tam Nong is a a rural district of Dong Thap province with an area of 459 square kilometers. It is famous with Tram Chim National Park, which attracts thousands of tourists every year.

My Tho became Tien Giang’s city in 1976. In 17th century, My Tho and Cu Lao Pho – Bien Hoa were 2 most noisy trade centers in the South.
