West Lake is the pride of Hanoi and Vietnam because of its large size and spectacular scenery. Especially, there are many historical and cultural heritages which are related to the development of Thang Long, Hanoi around the lake.
Located in the northern center of Hanoi, West Lake is the biggest freshwater lake in Hanoi covering 500 ha. With a shore length of 17 km (about 10.6 miles), it is the ideal place for walking and wondering under trees’ foliage. This is also a preferable dating place for couples due to wide-open space and romantic scenery.

- Kim Lien Pagoda
Located in Quang An village, Tay Ho district, the pagoda is one of 10 vestiges that have the most original architecture in Vietnam. Kim Lien pagoda architecture is of bringing royal appearance. Its gates is made of wood and sophisticatedly carved. From the gate leading into a courtyard on three parallel folds ranked Temple in the shape of triangle. Inside, the pagoda worships Buddha, the Holy Mother and Princess Tu Hoa. Besides, the pagoda still stores the precious artifacts that are stele dating from 1445.
- Tay Ho Pagoda
Being built in 1700s, it is located on a large peninsula in the middle of the West Lake shore in Hanoi. Although its scale is not too large, its location is extremely suitable for people who come here to pray. The pagoda worships Lieu Hanh Goodness – one of 4 immortals in Vietnamese belief.
- Tran Quoc Pagoda
It is the most ancient pagoda of Thang Long, Hanoi, has a 1500-year-history, located in the eastern West Lake. Nowadays, the pagoda still stores many valuable monuments in which there is a wooden statue of Gautama Buddha, the most beautiful statue in Vietnam. Tran Quoc Pagoda is not only the sacred place but also the tourist site which attracts a lot of visitors.
- Traditional ancient villages
Around the West Lake, there is a system of ancient villages which have different typical famous occupation: Nhat Tan village famous for growing flower peach, Tu Lien village well-known for kumquat and Yen Phu villages for pleasure fishes,…
