Ngoc Son Temple:

Ngoc Son Temple was built from the century XIX on a small island at the North of Hoan Kiem Lake. The Temple is a place to worship the national heroes.  The main temple consists of two sub-temples linking to each other.

The first temple is in the North where worship General Tran Hung Dao who was accorded his own separate altar. The next temple was built to worship two scholars named Van Xuong and La To

Besides, to the South of Ngoc Son Temple is Tran Ba communal house (wave-guard communal house) which is in square shape. Its two-layer roof is supported by eight pillars, four outside ones are in stone while the remaining inside is in wood.

The Huc Bridge:

Built in 1865, The Huc Bridge is a typical example of the architecture connecting Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. The name of bridge means “retained beautiful light of the sun”. It was made of wood and painted in dark-red color. It’s said that to be broken at the end of the century XIX and rebuilt then. The Huc Bridge attracts many tourists visiting everyday

Pen Tower and Pink Stand

In 1865, a mandarin named Nguyen Van Sieu and people renovated Ngoc Son Temple. On the Mount Ngoc Boi, he built a stone tower with the top in brush shape, on the body of the tower are three carved characters “Ta Thanh Thien” which called Pen Tower today.

Next to the Pen Tower is the Pink Stand on which placed a stone ink-slab shaping a peach half carried by three frogs. People said that, every year, there’s one day when the sun rise, the shape of Pen Tower’s top will meet the Pink Stand

Turtle Tower

Turtle Tower was built in the century XIX in the South of Hoan Kiem Lake and has been known as a typical character of Hanoi.

In Hoan Kiem Lake, there’s a special kind of turtle which shell is 1 – 2 metres wide. Sometimes in autumn, the turtles appear on the grass of the tower. Nowadays, Turtle Tower is becoming familiar to every local as well as international visitors.

King Ly Thai To Park

Ly Thai To Statue is a statue standing near Hoan Kiem Lake. It commemorates the founder and first king of the Ly Dynasty, which rulted the land known today as Vietnam for more than two hundred years, from 1009 to 1225AD. The dynasty was founded by Ly Cong Uan, who changed his name to Ly Thai To when he ascended the throne. It was Ly Thai To who moved the capital to Thang Long, near present-day Hanoi, and this move resulted in the eventual founding of Hanoi as a city and present-day capital.

Ly Thai To Park is the place to organize meetings or activities of local people. Coming here, visitors can stop here and relax in very hot summer.
